I have been a homeowner since the 1980s and was a landlady long ago. I had no idea how the rental market had changed and what was going on until I got elected in November 2016 and started apartment hunting a few weeks later. One year I had to pay more than $200 in unexpected fees. Some of the fees are one-time and some were monthly -- like valet garbage, six-month lease, first-floor apartment, pets, etc. It's really bad. Think of how crass these corporate landlords are that they gouged renters, evicted people and held some apartments empty to pump up profits -- while the rest of us are scrambling around trying to keep people house.

Yes I watched your video too - the fees are unconscionable. I guess fees are a thing across the board... my brother and his fam stayed at the Hilton East last Thanksgiving and had to pay to park in the Hilton's own lot.
